Meet Our Staff

 

Jack Howell – Pastor

Born in Richmond and raised in Stafford County, Jack Howell is a native of Virginia. He attended Vanderbilt University studying Political Science and History. Upon graduation, he married Rebecca Tatum and they lived first in Northeast Tennessee and later in Montgomery, Alabama serving as teachers, coaches, and dorm parents. Jack later attended Covenant Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri and, after receiving a Masters of Divinity, began Trinity Presbyterian Church in July 1998. Jack and Rebecca live in Norfolk's Westside with their four children, Jackson, Ann, Marshall and Kathryn.

Seth Nelson – Associate Pastor

Seth grew up in northern New Jersey about 20 miles west of Manhattan.  He attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and received a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Studies.  While studying at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, where he received his Master of Divinity, Seth met his wife, Heather, and they were married in 2006. Seth and Heather have beautiful twin girls, Lucia and Alethia, and live in the Lafayette/Winona neighborhood of Norfolk.

Ben Lyon – Assistant Pastor, Worship Arts & Youth Ministry

Ben was born and raised in and around the city of Philadelphia.  He attended the University of Virginia and there met his wife, Breann, through involvement in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.  Ben received a Bachelor of Arts in Classics and Music and then moved back to the Philadelphia area to attend Westminster Theological Seminary and work on the pastoral staff of New Life Presbyterian Church.  He married Breann in January of 2009 and earned his Master of Divinity in May of the same year.  Ben and Breann now live in the West Ghent neighborhood of Norfolk.

Lisa Mazzio, Psy.D. – Resident in Clinical Psychology

Dr. Lisa Mazzio has lived in Norfolk, VA for most of her life. She graduated from Maury High School and went on to Longwood University for her bachelor's degree. Upon graduation, Lisa entered the doctoral program at Regent University in Clinical psychology, earning her Master's Degree in 2008 and her Doctorate in 2010. She has worked in a variety of settings including universities, hospitals and outpatient clinics where she has provided psychological counseling to individuals, couples and families. Lisa has a passion for working within the church by actively integrating both excellent clinical services and the Christian worldview. Lisa and her husband Dan live in Norfolk with their identical twin daughters, Caroline and Charlotte.

Heather Nelson, M.A. – Women's Counselor

Heather grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, and then ventured to the Chicago area to attend Wheaton College. Upon graduation, she returned to Greenville for three years to teach Spanish at a Christian elementary school and volunteer with a campus ministry at Furman University. Her experience in mentoring high school and college-aged young women led her to pursue further training in theology and counseling through a Masters of Arts degree in Biblical counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. There she met and married her husband, Seth. After graduation, she worked as a counselor at a church-based counseling center and as a pastoral care assistant at a church plant for two years before moving to Norfolk, Virginia, where she and Seth now reside.
