About the Women's Ministry at Trinity:

What will you find at Trinity?

A community of women who represent the broad spectrum of our city: single career women, home schooling mothers, divorcees, women struggling with infertility, widows, unmarried women who long to be married, married women dealing with problems in their marriages, grandmothers, and unemployed women on public assistance.  Some are just beginning their spiritual journey and some are or decades into it.  Some are enthusiastic and energized by their relationship with God and some are disillusioned and full of doubt.

Wherever you find yourself in this gamut, please know that you’ll be met by other women who are facing the realities of life: that more days than not we struggle to live up to the demands swirling around us - from careers, marriages, children, singleness, friendships, family, unemployment, infertility.  We long for our worlds to be different. Our relationships aren’t what they should be. We’re all longing for more than our current day-to-day, whether it’s frenetic or boring.

Here at Trinity, you’ll find that we acknowledge this longing and openly discuss how we seek to fill our longings with:
•     Well-behaved and successful children
•     A perfect marriage
•     Ideal family relationships and friendships
•     Appearance/image - health and beauty
•     Spiritual knowledge and discipline
•     Entertainment and pleasure
•     Beautifully decorated homes
•     Stylish clothing
•     Being the “go-to” person who’s gifted and in the know
•     Illicit sexual relationships
•     Addictions
•     A righteousness that we define

Together we seek to point one another away from false refuges (even ones which look attractive and “Christian”) toward the true source of hope, the One who calls to us:

“Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters … Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
(Isaiah 55:1, Matthew 11:28)

We begin to make sense of our stories in light of God’s story as found in the Bible.  It is a story of the beauty of Jesus Christ’s redemption of the brokenness and struggle caused by sin.  We find where we belong -- not in a lover’s arms or a beautiful house or a powerful career or the perfect body -- but rather in a relationship which utterly satisfies!  We are loved and rescued by the One who sees through our façades and calls us out of our empty refuges.  And in this, we discover fullness in the relationship with God we were literally made for.  From this, we find our true identity and a restored community flow.

What does this actually look like?  What do we offer for women at Trinity?

  • Women's Bible Studies
  • Leadership training and mentoring
  • Special events
  • Spring retreat
  • Mercy & compassion:
meeting the needs of women in
    our church and larger communities
  • Staff counselor: Heather Nelson, m.a.

What are the goals of the women’s ministry at Trinity?
1.   Train women to use their various gifts given to them by the Spirit to build up the church: “Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them … to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ…” (Romans 12:6, Ephesians 4:12)

Women are created in God’s image and every woman has purpose and value for God’s glory.  Our goals in leadership training are that each woman discovers who she is (identity and gifting) and uses these gifts to build up the church to be what it was intended to be, and in turn be what she was intended to be.

   2.   Develop and facilitate authentic relationships where we are honest about who we are (both the good and the bad), and where we help to point each other to true hope found in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

   3.   Teach women to know and study the gospel as it is revealed and explained in the Bible.

   4.   Share the burdens and joys of the community and neighborhoods in which we live.
